Five issues later, she recruits the besotted costumed archer and later superhero Hawkeye to her cause. The Widow later becomes a recurring ally of the team before officially becoming its 16th member many years later. Increasingly, despite the setbacks of the pandemic, promising female auteurs are getting tapped by the franchise machine.

The Black Widow clone rose to the ranks of the Red Room while secretly persuading the recruits to turn against their masters.
